Today is a good day of speed flying at the Oklahoma Speedfest. This has become an annual event of RC contesting. There is also a great display and demonstration of scale planes.

San Francisco Zoo

The SF Zoo is a great place. I loved my morning.

But SF has a bit of a homeless problem and they know how to spot a rental car. I had my stuff in the trunk and they broke in just to see what might be there.

I have started building my quad copter. It is a 3D quad copter design. It has GPS, altimeter, three way gyros, sonic ground detector, magnetic compus, camera relay and radio telemetry.

Spektrum Transmitter Battery Polarity Reversed

Today I bought a Spektrum upgrade battery from my DX8. The SPMB4000LPTX Transmitter Battery from my local hobby shop. After plugging in the new batter and turning on the radio, the radio bused (normal if you have the throttle up) but then it popped and smoked.

The battery leads reversed reversed. I didn’t think to check the polarity from the original equipment manufacture.

The original batter is on the left and the new (BAD) batter is on the right. You can see the connectors are the same way up but the wires are reversed. The connector is keyed.

I’ve called Horizon Hobby. They are sending me a return for service box. I’ll tell you how the story goes.

Un-maned Failover Operations

I have video of two MySQL servers (one master, on slave) failing over from Master to Slave. The Master becomes the Slave and vise-verse with the slave becoming read-only.
