Hey Mark,
Great post . Looks like it has been over a year + for your VMWare ESXi 4.0 build. Looking to build one myself ,VMWare ESXi 5.0, and really like Supermicro Mobos.

What Supermicro mobo would u recommend that has worked with VMWare 4-5?
Your current - MBD-X8STE-O or a newer model and hopefully a little cheaper???
Not doing anything fancy. Experimenting with networking, media streaming, and Freenas,. (Had any luck on MythTV?) Looks like VMWare does not approve Supermicro Mobo. Not sure why they can't a least certify/Test one. But any way....
Any help would be great. Thanks Mike

I received a reply via twitter from Steve.

<t>Hi, Mark! That's either the first I've ever heard of the problem, or I have a faint sense that Stina may have mentioned ti once, as fixed. But, either way, it was nver on my radar and I never knew of the vulnerability. THANK YOU, though for discovering it and helping them fix.!</t>

This was the response I was hopping for. When tried to chat with Steve about this problem he was not on Twitter. I had attempted several times to email and leave info in the chat room for him and his "working group" to consider.

I should say again. Yubico did respond quickly and fixed the issue in days. I had hoped for a more public announcement of the trouble in a press release. I understand my companies don't publish these things but I'm disappointed with any company given responsibility for our security are not more transparent. I should also say YubiKey was Beta at the time.

Thanks Steve. TBV
